Power Of Subconscious

Your mind has two components:

The Conscious Mind - represents a mere 12% of the total mind’s capacity. It is only concerned with, or holds one single thought at a time and is mainly active when you are awake.

Conscious mind is the thinking mind. It is responsible for interpretation, logic, reasoning, decision-making and deliberate actions. It has no memory capacity, therefore only deals with the ‘here and now” situation. Whenever you are aware of the thing you are doing you can be confident that you are doing it with your conscious mind.

The Subconscious Mind – is the remaining 88% of your brain’s capacity. It is the second hidden mind that exists within you where enormous amount of mental activity is going on below the level of your conscious awareness. It is active day and night, regardless of what you are doing.

Your subconscious mind stores all the experiences of your lifetime, memories, your deepest beliefs, all the situations you have gone through and all the images you have ever seen. It is like a huge memory bank with unlimited capacity. It stores the information for later retrieval when recalled by the conscious mind, be it about a person or any situation.
Your subconscious mind is responsible for automatic behaviour like your habits. Habits are formed by repeating a new behaviour . The subconscious mind takes over routine tasks and helps you to do them automatically. It has memorized all your comfort zones and it works to keep you in them. You can feel your subconscious mind pulling you back toward your comfort zone each time you try something new or try to create a new habit.

Your subconscious mind controls all the functions of the body such as digestion, heartbeats, circulation of blood, releasing hormones, creating new cells or breathing. The process of breathing can be consciously controlled also - just try to control your breathing for one minute. When you are doing this it is the conscious mind that was controlling your breathing for that one minute. But when you let go of your focus your subconscious mind takes over again.

Your emotions are also controlled by your subconscious mind. That is why you sometimes feel afraid, anxious or physically uncomfortable whenever you attempt to do anything new or different without you wanting to experience such a feeling.

The source of your ability to achieve anything you desire is also the subconscious mind. Faith and belief are the foundation of the subconscious and you are rewarded according to your faith. So, if you are not getting the kind of results you want in your life, it’s often the faulty programming of your subconscious mind. Since you are the one who programmed it, whether accidentally or on purpose, you can always re-program it any time with more desired thoughts, ideas and beliefs, so you can get results you want.

The Subconscious Mind: Your Autopilot!

Have you ever done anything throughout your day on complete auto-pilot? Simple tasks that you just get done without thinking about why and how you're doing them are those controlled by your subconscious mind.

The best way to understand the subconscious mind is to look at the example of when you are learning to drive a car. Initially you will have full concentration on the gear, the clutch etc. You wouldn't be able to hold a conversation with anyone while driving. You will look at every pothole, every bump. That's because you are still using your conscious mind to drive.
Few months later driving becomes a natural habit that happens automatically without needing to think about it and making a conscious effort to drive. You automatically avoid obstacles, change gears when required and even start using your cell phone or talking to your companion while driving.
This happens because the driving act has been transferred to your subconscious mind by frequent repetitions. When the information about driving is stored into your subconscious mind it is stored as a program. Think of your mind as a computer and the driving information as software that can run automatically whenever needed.

Another example, hold your palm up in front of your face and imagine that you have a lemon on your palm right before your eyes. Do you experience your mouth watering? The conscious mind knows that there is no lemon and that it is only an imagination. The sub conscious mind is illogical and immediately believes the imaginary data put in and as a result your mouth waters.

Relation Of Conscious Mind And Subconscious Mind:

The conscious mind is the director and programmer of the subconscious mind. It gives commands and your subconscious mind obeys.

They work like computer. Your conscious mind is constantly taking in information from the five senses, and then it reasons, analyzes and comes to conclusions about whether the input is true or false. All the data you put into your subconscious “computer” is accepted as a command. It doesn’t matter whether the input is actually true or false – everything that reaches the subconscious is assumed to be true, even though it might be false. It cannot distinguish between what is imaginary and what is real. Any thought you repeat over and over, any visual image you create and hold in your mind, over and over, will create the circumstances that match the images and thoughts you have imprinted in it. Once the subconscious mind accepts an idea (good or bad, true or false) it begins to execute it and proceeds to bring out the results. Since the subconscious mind does not think, judge and has no reasoning power, it cannot reject anything that it is told and automatically follows the instructions and carries out the program which was installed.

Before anything can be achieved, both conscious and subconscious need to be in harmony. The problem is that in most cases you have no idea when your conscious mind and subconscious mind is not in tune with each other. The best way of knowing that they are not in tune is when you don’t get what you want. And the main thing that stands in your way of getting what your conscious mind wants is your limiting beliefs. These limiting beliefs operate below the surface leading to self-sabotage. Since your subconscious mind is the place where your beliefs and memories are stored, unless you challenge your limiting beliefs, make them weak, rip them out and replace them, your subconscious mind will reject what your conscious mind would like to believe.

Harnessing The Power Of Subconscious Mind:

On of the best ways to influence and communicate with your subconscious mind is through positive affirmations. Affirmations are those mental reminders and assertions of the positive things you want to achieve and want to become. Harnessing the power of your subconscious mind with positive thinking and affirmations can be your ticket for success in life.

Now, you cannot think both negative and positive thoughts at the same time. One or the other will dominate. Put simply, what you focus on you attract. Any thought that is repeated over and over again will take an imprint within the subconscious, which cannot distinguish between what is real and what you imagine. When you talk about your struggles and why you can’t achieve something, you are actually reaffirming these negative thoughts in your subconscious mind. So you need to turn this thinking around.

Train your conscious mind to think thoughts of success, happiness, health and prosperity. Weed out negative thoughts and words which create fear, worry and unhappy feelings. The mind is a creature of habit, positive thinking will soon become second nature.
By learning to utilize the power of affirmations to help program your own subconscious power, you're able to unlock large amounts of potential you never knew you had. Positive affirmations will alter your mindset getting rid of all your negative beliefs. For these affirmations to work, you need to commit to them. Do your recitals as often as possible in order to allow them to get into your subconscious.

Eliminating Negative ThinkingNow you can’t avoid negative thinking entirely. Sometimes negative thoughts just pop into your mind. What you can do, however, is to be vigilant and aware, so that you immediately recognize when you are thinking negatively. And when you catch yourself thinking negative thoughts you can use any of these techniques:

  • Observe your dominant negative thought. Change the negative thought into a positive one. The mind can only think one thought at a time; so replacing the negative into a constructive one will eliminate the negative.
  • Use repetition of affirmations of positive thoughts. The mind will focus on what you are repeating to yourself.
  • In case you experience inner resistance and difficulties when replacing negative thoughts with positive ones, do not give up. Think of something funny to change the energy, or do something fun filled. Don’t let your negative thoughts have power over you.
  • Remind yourself that the negative thought you are thinking is “only a negative thought.” It has no power other than what you give it. Negatives gain momentum from your thinking them over and over again. So stop thinking them.

With practice you will notice right away when you are thinking negative, and you then can take the appropriate actions. The mind is a creature of habit, so encourage positive thoughts and eliminate negative ones.
